Nature is the principal subject of our designs, nature and man's connection to the natural world. At the start of a new project, we begin a journey of discovery. We study the native ecosystems, the quality of the light, the character of the rain, the feel of the air and the sun. We apply principles of feng shui, geomancy, and human psycology to generate our designs. In the rainforest, we compose a design that looks best wet, and buildings that celebrate the rain. In the desert, we build of the earth itself and invoke the power of the land and the sky. The architects, planners, and designers at Tormod Hellwig, llc have a firm understanding of how people react with their surroundings. Create magnets, landmarks. Do not challenge the land, but echo the local landforms in the buildings. Reveal alternate realities. These are all tools we use in composing an experience of place.
