HOUSE OF LEARNING

The House of Learning dwells within a grove of redcedar trees on the edge of the Peninsula College campus. It's living roof of epiphyte mosses and ferns thrive in the shadow of the trees. To enter the House is to be consumed, to be transformed by the experience. The doors are huge, as if entering a place of giants. As in the longhouses of old, everywhere is a sense of the grand and the massive. Lighting is designed to transform the great hall from a classroom or lecture hall to a dramatic space of shadows and glowing columns for performances and cultural events.
